RUMNEY, N.H.—Authorities have found the body of a 25-year-old Plymouth, N.H., man who was reported missing Tuesday when he failed to return home from a hiking trip.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation officers found the body of Thomas Perkins on Thursday in a wooded area known as Rumney Rocks, near Rattlesnake Mountain.

Perkins, an experienced rock climber, was last seen in the area on Monday. Family members called authorities Tuesday when he did not return home as planned.

The state medical examiner is investigating the cause of death.

The search team included state and local police, staff from the White Mountain National Forest, Upper Valley Search and Rescue and New England K-9 Search and Rescue.
