A judge set the bond of Markell Hollis, the third suspect involved in an armed burglary in Boynton Beach on Tuesday, at $130,000 this morning, a decision that did not please his attorney.

Criminal defense attorney Andrew Strecker asked that Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Ted S. Booras leave unchanged Hollis' $96,000 bond. But after hearing the charges and Hollis' past criminal history, Booras set the bond higher.

Assistant State Attorney Mary Ann Duggan said during Hollis' first appearance hearing that his criminal "career" began when he was 13 years old. She added that Hollis was released from the Florida Department of Corrections in December, after being arrested for a robbery in February 2010.

Strecker repeated in court today what he told The Palm Beach Post on Thursday - that "there's more to this story" than what the Boynton Beach Police Department has released.

Hollis has been sought by authorities since Tuesday, when he and two others were accused of burglarizing a home on Northeast Fourth Court in Boynton Beach, then trying to escape.

Three police officers were injured when their cruiser crashed into a concrete pole when they responded to a backup request from other officers investigating the burglary. All were released from Delray Medical Center by Wednesday.

The other two suspects, Chedo Ceance, 18, and Michael Hollis, 17, were arrested Tuesday.

The three face charges of armed burglary of a dwelling, grand theft, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting an officer, the affidavit said. But Markell Hollis also faces additional charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude with serious injury.

According to Palm Beach County Jail Records, Hollis has been booked seven times since 2007 for four burglaries, including Tuesday's. Other charges range from robbery to larceny.
