The Crowne Plaza hotel in Harrisburg will stay open as its owners work on a refinancing to resolve a mortgage foreclosure complaint, the hotel's general manager said in a statement today.

The 10-story hotel at 23 S. Market St., a centerpiece of the downtown, was hit with a $12.7 million foreclosure complaint that was filed in Dauphin County Court on Friday. The 23 South Lodging Partnership, of Miami Beach, Fla., claims hotel owner Jay Siaram LP of North Potomac, Md., has been in default of its mortgage since October.

Stephanie Foose, the hotel's manager, said Siaram has been working to refinance the property's mortgage since late last fall. "The filing in Dauphin County is part of the refinancing and negotiation process which the ownership group plans to have completed in the near future," she said.
