NORTH SISTER MOUNTAIN, Ore. -- Brian C. Jones was climbing the North Sister on Saturday, when he fell down the west face around 1 p.m. A climbing partner witnessed the fall.

Search crews responding to the scene, including an Air National Guard Black Hawk helicopter, Deschutes Search and Rescue, Eugene Mountain Rescue, and Corvallis Mountain Rescue.

According to a press release, "A subject matching Jones' description was located in the search area deceased by the Air Guard."

However, because of hazardous weather conditions, crews were not able to recover the body. John Miller with Lane County Search and Rescue said it could be a few days until that happens, depending on the forecast.
