Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Authorities are investigating the shooting of a man in the Sunset Homes development in suburban West Palm Beach.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Longwood Road at 11:30 a.m. todayt to reports of a shooting.

Deputies on the scene report the shooting victim, a male, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center. Lt. Scott Smith, of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, said the man is in his mid 50s and is in critical condition.

Smith said preliminary reports are that the victim and another male were arguing when the victim was shot. The second male is considered a person of interest and is in custody. He added that the shooting was an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing, Smith said.
