Rex Ryan and Nick Mangold confirmed today that the Jets' All-Pro center will not travel with the team later today to Oakland for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

"He's just not ready," Ryan said. "It's as simple as that."

"I appreciate his toughness and his courage, but at the end of the day, we got to do what's right for him and for the Jets," Ryan added. "He doesn't need to be making the trip this week."

Rookie Colin Baxter, as expected, will start for Mangold, whose 82-game consecutive games streak will come to an end.

Ryan said it's "a possibility" that Mangold could be ready for next Sunday night's matchup at the Baltimore Ravens.

NOTE:
Rookie defensive lineman Mo Wilkerson (shoulder) is officially questionable on the injury report. Ryan said that the first-round pick was hurt in the Jaguars' game, but the coach expects him to play on Sunday.
