Panama City Beach Rocking out at Country Music Fest - WJHG-TV

Over 7,000 people turned out for the "Fun Never Sets" Country Music Fest at Frank Brown Park last night and tourism officials are expecting the crowd to double tonight.

Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean have been the talk of the town and the shows of the year here in Panama City Beach and it's just the boost businesses need to carry them into the off-season.

She's a pistol, and she puts on a pretty good show. Miranda Lambert kicked off the Country Music Fest Friday night, with thousands of fans cheering her on.

"It was wild and crazy. We were right out by the stage so it was definitely a commode hugger" says Jason Wickham, who came all the way from Colorado for the weekend concert events.

The city is loving the extra business.

¶"It's a great idea and families can go enjoy the fun, and get back into it.. and maybe pick up people's business around here" says Alabama resident Sheila Dubby.

Things seemed to go off without a hitch Friday night and law enforcement only reported one arrest.

"Our biggest concern was traffic and parking and neither of those were a problem" says Panama City Beach Police Chief Robert Harding.

One neighbor in the area did file a noise complaint. Officers conducted a sound reading, and found the noise was slightly over the permitted level but this concert series is exempt from the noise ordinance because it is considered a special permitted event.

Saturday's show was initially sold out but the Tourist Development Council received the go-ahead to sell an additional 2,000 tickets.
