Friday's storms left between 6 to 10 inches of rain in areas around Jacksonville and near the beaches. Now, the people affected are left with the mess. Streets were left covered with mud and sand. Abandoned cars remained where they stalled out.Cheryl Jackson said her car was one of the rain's victims."We just tried driving down 3rd Street and my car completely shut off," Jackson said.Jackson's car sits in a Wal-Green's parking lot. Friday she was just trying to get home, when she made the mistake a lot of people made, which was trying to drive through several feet of water.Raphael Martinez said he and his girlfriend had to make different plans after their car stalled out."We were actually able to swim on 3rd Street. It was pretty bad," said Martinez.Martinez said the water in some spots was waist deep. His girlfriend thought her SUV was high enough to stay dry, but she was wrong."The police had blocked off the area because people were still coming in because they thought their cars could make it, but they were not making it," said Martinez.A resident of Jacksonville Beach, Wes Swett said he was shocked at how much rain actually came down."A lot of people were walking around because they were in awe of the amount of flooding, because we're not use to so much, at least in this area," said Swett.More rain is in the forecast, which means beach goers could see flash flooding again.
