After falling asleep at the wheel, a 57-year-old man drove his 2000 BMW SUV into the laundry room of the Good Nite Inn on Old Redwood Highway in Rohnert Park Saturday night.

Police said the man, a guest at the hotel, was not intoxicated. The man was pulling into the parking space in front of the laundry room when he dozed off shortly before 10 p.m. He pressed down on the gas pedal and the SUV drove over a curb and bushes and into the building.

Most of the vehicle was stuck inside the laundry room, its front end right up against the washers and dryers. No one was inside the laundry room at the time.

Guests in rooms above the laundry room were evacuated and moved into other rooms because emergency officials feared there might be structural damage to the building.

Neither the driver nor any other hotel guests were injured. Police said the accident caused about $10,000 damage to the building.
