ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Naturally, as parents, we are extremely concerned about the events that led up to the arrest of Katia Davis. We understand that this is a story that has generated a lot of interest, but we think it's important to state the facts accurately:

The suspect in this matter has not been involved with Beach City Lightning in more than 3 years. She was not a club or team official or volunteer. One of the victims was a member of BCL several years ago. According to the Sheriff's report, one of the remaining two victims was involved in youth hockey, but was not affiliated with Beach City Lightning and the 3rd was not involved in youth hockey at all.

We understand that no official BCL events were ever held at Ms. Davis' house.

We are a volunteer run organization, led by parents. Naturally, our concern is for the children involved, and as parents, we are disgusted by the alleged behavior in this case. We are very clear about expectations of our parents in terms of responsible supervision of our children, and have been since our club started.

We have provided to the Orange County Sheriff all the information we have on this matter, and are cooperating as much as we can with their investigation given the limited information we have.

BCL is a member in good standing of USA Hockey. USA Hockey has a ZERO Tolerance policy with respect to inappropriate interactions, sexual and otherwise, between adults and minors, and we educate parents of our players on these policies on an ongoing basis.

Our primary goal is to protect the children involved in BCL. We trust that the truth will come out in this case as it progresses through the judicial process. As parents, we ask the media to respect the privacy of the children who play for our club.

We would again emphasize that our primary focus is the safety of the children in our program, and we are constantly evaluating our policies and procedures to achieve that goal, and are in constant communication with our families to ensure that situations like this do not happen in the first place.
