BOULDER - Online travel network TravelShark acquired eat.shop guides, a publisher of travel guides that cover the world's top destinations.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The guides feature thousands of dining and shopping venues in 30 top travel cities around the world, the company said in a press statement. TravelShark's American office is in Boulder; its headquarters is in Singapore.

TravelShark plans to put eat.shop guides content online and continue the company's book business. It also plans to expand the business by adding content from 100 new cities in the next year, the company said.

"TravelShark is excited to be at the forefront of the trend favoring original content in travel, most recently reflected by Google's acquisition of Zagat," Sue Heilbronner, TravelShark's chief executive, said in the statement.

The company is developing a range of new travel products for trip planning and new mobile applications for smartphones and tablets. TravelShark has a global network of 12,000 travel sites. More than 600 hotels, hotel brands, hospitality companies and interactive marketing agencies in more than 20 countries participate in TravelShark's Feature Hotel Program to help generate direct-booking revenue.

The company said in June that it had closed a $5 million round of financing, bringing its total financing to $8 million. The investment was made by DLA Holdings, a Singapore-based private equity firm.
