Two Foothill City Mountain Lion Sightings This Week - Patch.com
There were two mountain lions spotted this week in foothill cities, one sighting in Monrovia, one in Sierra Madre.
In Monrovia, the mountain lion killed a house cat. Monrovia resident Maxwell Harvey was pulling up to his home in the 400 block of Lotone Street at about 10 p.m. Thursday when he saw the mountain lion in a neighbor's driveway. He noticed it had something clasped in its jaws.
"I saw something in its mouth but I didn't know what it was," Harvey said. "Then I saw it was my cat so I started to chase after it."
The mountain lion dropped the cat, an orange tabby named "Brett Favre," in the street a few houses down before scampering back up into the foothills.
Harvey said it came back down about an hour later looking for its kill, but he had already picked up the cat's body.

In the Sierra Madre case, the lion was spotted in middle of W. Mira Monte Avenue on Monday evening, according to Sierra Madre resident Debbie Vass who alerted Patch to the incident.
Vass's neighbor Jennifer Hull told Patch that it was her husband who spotted the mountain lion at approximately 7:30 p.m. as he started to exit their driveway to run an errand.
"Our dog was barking incessantly at the front screen door of our house," Hull said in an email detailing the incident. "My husband went out to see what could be causing this… When he got into his car and turned on his headlights he saw a large mountain lion sitting in the middle of the street."
Hull said her husband then flashed his lights at the lion, which caused it to get up and begin walking towards Baldwin Avenue.
