Motorists need to stay off U.S. 90 in Biloxi and Gulfport, Harrison County officials said.

"It's not totally impassible, but people do not need to be on it. It's too dangerous," Harrison County Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy said at 2 p.m. "You can't tell if you're on the beach or on the highway and MDOT crews cannot work on it because of the heavy rain."

With intermittent deluges, Harrison County is under a flash flood warning at least until 4:30 p.m.

Water is forming ponds all over the county, Lacy said.

Any roads near rivers, ditches or bayous should be avoided. Lorraine Road is near the Biloxi River and is barricaded, he said. So is the Henderson Point area of west Pass Christian.

"The list of road closures is actually too long to put out," Lacy said.

In D'Iberville, north and southbound lanes of Lamey Bridge Road, between Johnson Still Road and Lickskillet Road, is closed with water over the roadway.

In Hancock County, Beach Boulevard from Sears Avenue to Lakeshore has reopened. In the Shoreline Park area, the roads were still closed, said Emergency Management Director Brian Adam.

Water is receding in some areas with low tide, Adam said, but not a lot.

He said U.S. 90 is open and not experiencing flooding in Hancock County.

Things will change as water begins to rise toward a high tide at 5:30 a.m. Monday, he said. All drivers should be cautious after midnight.

"Do not travel through any standing water on roads," Adam said. "It's very hard to tell how deep it is and the water levels are fluctuating."

Something that was safe an hour before could be too deep for a car now, he said.
