The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a man who fell off a sailboat about a mile from the Flagler Beach Pier.

Authorities say the man was on board the Cedar Roost when he was swept off the boat by a large wave about 5 p.m. Monday. Officials from the Coast Guard, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were searching for the man late Monday.

The area experienced 4- to 6-foot swells during the afternoon.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal ( http://bit.ly/nK3Ssb) reported a small craft advisory was issued at 3:30 p.m. on Labor Day for the waters along the Flagler Beach area.

Authorities have not released the boater's name. No further details were immediately available.
