WEST PALM BEACH—

A judge denied bond Sunday morning for a suburban West Palm Beach man charged with the attempted murder of his roommate with a firearm.

Josue Perez, 19, shot Jose Valenzuela, 55, in the temple at a Longwood Road home on Saturday, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office report.

Valenzuela was in critical condition Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's Medical Center, where he was taken after the shooting.

Deputies responded to the shooting just before noon Saturday. According to the report, Perez's girlfriend said Perez put a black handgun to Valenzuela's right temple and pulled the trigger. No motive was reported.

After Valenzuela fell to the ground, Perez said, 'What did I do?' " and pulled Valenzuela outside, the report said. Another person at the home said he heard a gunshot, saw Valenzuela fall to the floor and heard Perez ask what he should do.

But Perez told deputies he and Valenzuela were standing outside the house when a small, black, four-door vehicle drove by slowly and a rear passenger rolled down the window. Perez said he heard a gunshot, and Valenzuela fell to the ground, the report said.
