WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sep 12, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. /quotes/zigman/410958/quotes/nls/hot HOT -0.01% today announced that its Westin brand has marked a milestone with the opening of its tenth hotel in Latin America -- The Westin Guadalajara. Owned by Heldan Hotels & Resorts, The Westin Guadalajara is located in the heart of downtown Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city, and one of its fastest-growing metropolises. The new Westin features 221 guest rooms, an all day dining restaurant, ample meeting facilities and the full range of Westin signature amenities designed to inspire wellbeing.
"We are excited to introduce Westin to Guadalajara as we continue to aggressively expand our footprint in key destinations across Latin America," said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts. "The Westin Guadalajara is a strong representation of the Westin brand and highlights our distinctive brand positioning, which is resonating with travelers in diverse international markets around the world."
The Westin Guadalajara offers a prime address in the city's prestigious Rinconada del Bosque area, a modern urban business development. The hotel is in front of the Expo Guadalajara -- a major center for events, exhibitions and conventions -- and close to the World Trade Center, Plaza del Sol, and numerous corporate offices.
"Westin Hotels is driving Starwood's expansion in Latin America, where we are on track to double our portfolio by 2012 and build on our strong history in both urban and resort locations throughout Mexico," said Osvaldo Librizzi, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Latin America. "Fueled by phenomenal international demand, Westin will open more than 90% of its new hotels outside the United States in many of the world's fastest-developing markets including Latin America."
Guests at The Westin Guadalajara will awaken their senses with the Westin Heavenly Bath(R) and restore in the brand's signature Heavenly Bed(R), a 10-layer ensemble of luxurious comfort featuring a pillow-top mattress set, a cozy down blanket, three crisp sheets, a comforter, duvet and five plush pillows. Rooms are also equipped with high-speed Internet access and an ergonomic work space to enhance guest productivity and creativity in a tranquil setting.
"We are especially proud of The Westin Guadalajara, a hotel that will represent Guadalajara to the world," said Salomon Helfon, Director of Heldan Hotels & Resorts. "This new opportunity to work with Starwood is an important recognition of the high caliber of work that we have accomplished with Westin, in Mexico City with the recently opened Westin Santa Fe. We are confident that The Westin Guadalajara will become a landmark in the city."
As part of the Westin brand's commitment to preserving wellness on the road, The Westin Guadalajara features a 24-hour WestinWORKOUT(R) gym. Additionally, the Hotel's restaurant, "Casa de las Rosas" features the best of contemporary and modern Mexican cuisine. "Casa de las Rosas" is a unique culinary concept presented by Eduardo Osuna. The menu includes from the famous guacamole to traditional Guadalajara recipes. The Restaurant also features SuperfoodsRX menu designed by experts to keep guests on top of their game with incredible food combinations rich in nutrients, antioxidants and flavor. The hotel provides nearly 2,000 square feet of meeting space designed to accommodate up to 150 people, including six meeting rooms, pre-function space, the latest in audio-visual technology and high-speed Internet connectivity.
