Emotions were running high during the prelude to the September 11 ten year anniversary ceremonies, and NJ.com users took to thinking about the anniversary of the attacks and to what will happen on September 12.

NJ.com user Vailsburg07106 wonders if it might be time to consider moving on:

The events of September 11, 2001 were indeed a terrible day in history. This can not be denied, yet the truth is ten years have passed. Perhaps it is finally time to place this unfortunate event into the history books. It is not insensitive or "un-American" to make the decision to "move on" and begin approaching every September 11th with an attitude of letting go of what happened on that day. Does every morning of September 11th for the upcoming years of 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030, 2031, 2032, 2033, 2034, 2035, 2036 and so forth up to the 100th anniversary in the year 2101 need be filled with throngs of weeping people at the former site of the World Trade Center buildings with somber looks of despair and unresolved grief.

Sad and tragic events have happened in our world in the past, and will probably happen again in the future. Let's accept that the sunshine of life does appear after the remnants of torrential storms in life fade away. It is time to move on and find peace in our hearts and stop with all the tears and unnecessary heartache year after year.

NJ.com user obiwanisback thinks it's time to reconsider the name Ground Zero:

At Ground Zero, thousands of people milled around the former Twin Towers site to get a look at the new One World Trade Center tower under construction.

It is not and as Mayor Bloomberg commented, should no longer be referred to as Ground Zero. The correct name is "THE WORLD TRADE CENTER! The term ground zero is for a barren piece of land with the wreckage of something that was once there. The site has been reborn. It is time to retire the term.

NJ.com user probably had a close friend who died in the attacks:

I thought I was the only one. This day has seared a hole in my soul. Just the mention of the date is enough. It is time to remember and move on. I know the dear friend I lost that morning would be appalled at the maudlin ceremonies and the loss of our freedoms ten years later. We need to celebrate the lives of those we lost. Let's not dwell on a shattered building, but the brilliant souls that were within.
