Pismo Beach police are investigating the report of a body in the ocean today.

The agency was notified just before noon about a possible body in the water, according to emergency dispatch reports.

A police dispatcher remained mum about the incident and said a watch commander wasn't available.

The report comes a day after Pismo police said they were searching for a Shell Beach man who was last seen Sunday, and whose dog was spotted by acquaintances on a remote beach with no access from above.

Officers began looking for Dylan Winebrenner, 32, after receiving a call at 12:30 p.m. Friday about a possible missing person in the Dinosaur Caves Park area.

The people who made the call said they were kayaking along the cliffs below Dinosaur Caves Park and saw the dog, which they recognized as belonging to Winebrenner.

They said they found it unusual because Winebrenner, who is known to kayak and fish in the area, never left his dog.

Winebrenner was last seen at 8 p.m. Sunday, police said.
