FROSTBURG — Connor Eberly recorded his fifth shutout in a row and Mountain Ridge finished 8-0 in the Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference to win its fourth conference championship in the school's brief five-year history by beating Bishop Walsh 4-0 Saturday night in high school boys soccer.
The Miners (9-1 overall) have won the AMAC outright every year with the exception of 2009, and are the five-time defending Times-News Area champions. They will visit Northern in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Eberly faced four shots on goal and has not allowed a goal since a 6-1 win over Frankfort on Sept. 15. Lucas Bruck made 11 saves for the Spartans (6-5, 2-3 AMAC).
The Miners scored a pair of goals in each half, scoring the first-half goals 33 seconds apart. Jake Kyle got both scores, unassisted with 2:39 remaining and booting a left-footed goal on an assist by Jacob Bittner.
Chris Ranker scored on an assist from Canyon Lohnas with 12:08 to play in the second half, and Evan Deckers scored on an assist from Patrick Kimble with 5:52 left for the final goal.
Mountain Ridge won the junior varsity match by a score of 3-0. Colton Thomas, Jake Hafer and Dane Lutton scored for the Miners, while Hafer and Tyler Sisler had an assist.
Bishop Walsh (6-5, 2-3 AMAC) will host Petersburg Monday at 4:30.

Hampshire 0
SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Frankfort and Hampshire played to a scoreless tie in a non-conference game on Saturday.
Hampshire held a slight 7-6 edge in shots. Both goalies, Hampshire's Levi Moreland and Frankfort's Cameron Spence, had four saves.
Hampshire (1-13-1) hoss Pendleton on Tuesday at 6 o'clock. Frankfort (4-6-3) plays at Petersburg on Wednesday at 7.
