VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police charged a teen with drunk driving and manslaughter for an accident that killed his 19-year-old passenger in Pungo early Saturday morning.

Police said Christopher A. Sell, 19, of the 2200 block of Rayburn Lane failed to negotiate a curve in the 3700 block of West Neck Road around 1 a.m. His 2000 Nissan Xterra went into a ditch and struck a series of trees on the passenger side.

Emergency crews arrived to find the man dead in the rear passenger seat. Medics took the front seat passenger, a 21-year-old male, to the hospital with serious injuries. Medics treated Sell at the scene for minor injuries. A fourth occupant in the SUV suffered no injuries.

Police also charged Sell with illegal possession of alcohol and possession of an identification belonging to another person. He is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until police notify his family. The accident remains under investigation.
