A SUMMIT has been held to decide what to do about a 4X4 which has been driven to Wales' highest mountain for the second time with a month.

The burgundy Vauxhall Frontera, above, was discovered parked at the top of Snowdon at 1,085m (3,560ft) on Thursday. It is not known who was at the wheel this time.

After the first episode on September 3, owner Craig Williams, 39, of Cheltenham, faces a charge of dangerous driving and unlawful driving on common land. He will appear in court on Friday.

In a statement, North Wales police said yesterday: "Following a multi-agency strategy meeting, it was decided that the continuing safety of the public on Snowdon is paramount.

"A detailed risk analysis has been completed and a further review will be undertaken on Monday to determine the most appropriate and safest means to remove the 4x4 vehicle.

"A section of the railway and also to part of the public footpath have been damaged."

Mr Williams is being billed £3,000 by the mountain railway who brought the vehicle down the first time.

He offered to donate proceeds from selling the 4X4 to the Llanberis and Ogwen mountain rescue teams – but they turned him down.
