Notre Dame's depth on its defensive line will take a big hit tonight.

Freshman phenom Stephon Tuitt did not travel with the team to Purdue due to violations of team policies, the university announced about a half before kickoff between Notre Dame and Purdue.

Tuitt played a significant role at nose guard in last week's win at Pittsburgh, including a sack on Pitt's final drive--attempting to win the game.

He's a defensive end but his speed and size allow him to play the middle well. He was seeing an increased role alongside side fellow freshman Aaron Lynch since the Michigan State game.

Notre Dame did not specify what Tuitt did to violate the team policy but Irish coach Brian Kelly is expected to address the Irish after the game.

Tuitt was on Notre Dame's road game travel roster, indicating that whatever happened--it came to light recently.
