Mayor Michael Bloomberg's personal travels, such as his Bermuda getaways, will remain private, thanks to his ally on the City Council, Speaker Christine Quinn.

Ms. Quinn, a potential 2013 mayoral candidate, has effectively killed legislation proposed by Council Member Peter Vallone that would require a sitting mayor to report publicly whenever he or she leaves the continental U.S. or is more than 250 miles from the city for longer than 24 hours.
