Arroyo Grande High School graduate Ashley Roese contributed two assists to Long Beach State's 6-0 win over Cal Poly on Sunday afternoon at Spanos Stadium. Roese, a freshman for the 49er's entered the game in the 2nd half and assisted on the final two goals of the game. It was a sweet return to the Central Coast for her. "It's huge because when I was younger I'd always come out here and watch the games so just to be able to play and run a clinic just like we did just now is really cool" said Roese afterward. Roese played one season for Arroyo Grande High before joining a local club team, Madrid Premier. Roese had a cheering section of about a hundred people on hand for the game. It was her seventh appearance of the season, she's yet to score but now has two assists.

The Loss dropped Cal Poly to 7-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Long Beach State takes over sole possession of first place at 2-0 in the conference, the 49ers are 9-3-1 overall.

Long Beach State outshot the Mustangs 19-9 with with 13 of the shots coming on goal. Mustang goalie Brooke Gauvin made seven saves but allowed six goals.

Cal Poly is next in action on Friday at Cal State Northridge.
