Blue Mountain Brewery is toasting two big awards it received at this weekend's Great American Beer Festival in Denver.

The Nelson County brewery won a gold medal for its English style summer ale, Summer Lovin. Blue Mountain also got a silver medal for it's Blue Reserve Hop-Harvest beer, made exclusively with Virginia hops grown right on site.

Blue Mountain Brewery Owner and Brewer Taylor Smack said, "You'd think I'd be more excited about the gold medal, I'm actually more excited about the silver because it recognizes the kind of agricultural spirit here at Blue Mountain."

The Great American Beer Festival is the largest commercial beer competition in the world. Almost 4,000 beers from more than 500 breweries competed in this year's festival.
