Myrtle Beach, SC (WMBF) An early morning shooting on Sunday has residents on Canal Street in Myrtle Beach calling for an end to gun violence.

Myrtle Beach Police are investigating the alleged shooting, which neighbors say left bullet holes in two homes on the 900 block of Canal street.

Neighbors say they heard gunshots around 1:30 Sunday morning followed by a car driving away at high speed.

Canal Street Resident Mike King says he is reconsidering his living arrangement following the incident.  "[The shooting] makes me want to pack up and move back West to Conway," says King.

According to Police records, one of the homes affected on Sunday was shot at in a similar incident in March of this year.

Neighbor Samuel Chestnut says he has lived on Canal street for 30 years since serving in the armed forces.  He says he moved back to take care of his parents.  Chestnut tells WMBF News wants the violence to stop.

"This is a good neighborhood, always has been.  Who ever is doing this needs stop or just move out and take it somewhere else," says Chestnut.

Police say they have no leads at this point in their investigation.

An elderly woman who owns one of the two homes affected by the alleged shooting chose not to identify herself, but does tell WMBF News that one of the bullets went through her wall and lodged in a couch in her living room.  The woman says she takes naps on the couch regularly and could easily have been struck by the bullet were she not in her bedroom at the time of the alleged shooting.

"People around here like to go to church, go to work, come home and rest.  All I want is peace and quiet.  Then I'll be happy," says Chestnut.

Anyone with information about the alleged shooting on Canal Street is asked to call Myrtle Beach.
