More than 50 kids took to the trails with their bikes Sunday at Preddy Creek Park for the eighth anniversary of Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. The Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club hosted the International Mountain Biking Association Event.

This year, in support of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative, the association pledged to get 30,000 kids participating in more than 300 cycling events nationwide this weekend.

Sam Lindblom a volunteer with Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club said, " It's important to get kids out onto our parks, its great for their mental health, it's great for their physical health and it's great for our community to use these beautiful facilities."

Kids from 5-years-old up to 14-years-old took part in Sunday's ride at Preddy Creek. The group's goal was to give the kids a set of safety skills for going out on the trails on their own.
