Green Mountain selling Van Houtte USA for $145M - BusinessWeek

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. is selling its Van Houtte U.S. coffee service business to Aramark Refreshment Services LLC for about $145 million.

Green Mountain acquired Van Houtte USA Holdings Inc. through its buyout of LJVH Holdings Inc. in December. Green Mountain, known for its Keurig brewing system, said at that time that it would try to sell the Van Houtte business.

Aramark Refreshment Services, which provides coffee and other beverages to offices, said that Van Houtte, also known as Filterfresh, is a good fit.

"Aramark and Filterfresh are both leaders in providing excellent service and quality office coffee and other refreshments to employees in the workplace," Aramark Refreshment Services Executive Vice President Jonathan Peters said in a statement.

Last month Green Mountain, based in Waterbury, Vt., reported that its third-quarter net income almost tripled and revenue more than doubled.

Green Mountain shares rose $2.19, or 2.2 percent, to $100.10 in early trading.
