Tuesday Beach Report: Waves Hang On, OCBP Is Back - Patch.com

All winter and spring, we counted the days until summer. And now a new and much sadder countdown begins: We have just seven beach days until the end of the traditional summer season on Labor Day.

Fortunately, it looks like it's going to be a great week. On Tuesday morning on the beach at Waverly, the sun is up, the sky is cloudless and we're headed for a high of 81 degrees with not a drop of precipitation in the forecast.

The ocean water temperature is 71 degrees, and surfers are enjoying some continuing swell leftover from Hurricane Irene. The Ocean City Beach Patrol resumes its protection of beaches throughout the island today, so it should be a perfect day to get to the beach.

In the morning, it's actually a bit chilly -- you may want to pack a sweatshirt, if you're traveling early.

Surf: Sets of clean head-high surf are hanging on at the north-end breaks. They seem to be slowly fading from Sunday and Monday, but there's still plenty of fun to be had. Winds are very light out of the north in the morning, but are supposed to increase in the afternoon, so things could get messier. Low tide is around 3 p.m.

Traffic: No issues this morning.
