Virginia Launches New Fall Travel Planning Web Site - PR Web (press release)
Posted on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 by destination tips travel
Richmond, VA. (PRWEB) August 30, 2011
The Virginia Tourism Corporation has just launched a new fall travel planning Web site that features destinations where loved ones can completely connect and celebrate the season. Visitors looking to take in stunning fall foliage on a scenic drive, sip the best of October Virginia Wine Month or plan a romantic stay at a classic inn can use http://www.Virginia.org/fall to plan the perfect trip. Interactive mapping pinpoints wineries, orchards, corn mazes and festivals using GPS technology so visitors can search by zip code or locality to find the ideal fall experience. Virginia.org/fall also features numerous travel packages to enjoy fall foliage, culinary highlights, wine touring and historic sites.
"Fall is a beautiful time to visit Virginia as 15 million acres of foliage burst into color and wineries celebrate the harvest," said Alisa Bailey, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. "The best of Virginia's fall experiences are found on Virginia.org/fall, with resources that make trip planning easy. Our online visitors can plan a weekend getaway for two or a trip with the family in just a matter of minutes."
Couples getaways are very popular in Virginia during the fall. The state's renowned historic inns and classic B&Bs appeal to couples looking to spend quality time together surrounded by beautiful scenery. Quaint small towns dot the Virginia countryside and lead to nearly 200 wineries, dozens of local restaurants and one-of-a-kind shops and historic sites.
Virginia has more than 2,500 miles of scenic byways and roads which traverse the state from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay to the mountains of Southwest Virginia. National Scenic Byways such as the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive are perennial favorites. Other routes which include state scenic roads are diverse and inspiring trips within themselves. Virginia.org/fall lists scenic drives ideas from across the state as well as suggestions of where to stay, dine and visit along the route. The state's outdoor beauty is magnified by national and state parks which offer outdoor recreation and accommodations.
Those looking to travel with little ones in tow will love Virginia's "U Pick" experiences such as apple orchards and pumpkin patches, many of which offer hay rides and special events for families. Corn mazes are also popular in fall. Visitors can use the Virginia.org/fall map feature to find corn mazes across the state and let the adventure begin.
Love is at the heart of every Virginia vacation. Visit http://www.Virginia.org/fall to start planning a trip or call 1-800-VISITVA to request a free, Virginia is for Lovers travel guide.
Note to media: scenic fall images from destinations across Virginia are available at http://www.VaTravelStories.com, the official pressroom of the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
