A 32-year-old man is facing grand theft charges after Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews found some of their stolen equipment in his van.

Richard Halsey Gosman has not yet been booked into the Palm Beach County Jail according to records. He was arrested for burglary of a conveyance and grand theft this morning.

According to the probable affidavit, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue station 46 at 7550 S. Jog Road in suburban Lake Worth reported a burglary of a fireman's sport utility vehicle this morning. The fireman, 53-year-old Frank Grossinger, said that sometime between 7 a.m. on Wednesday and 2 a.m. today, someone smashed the front passenger window of his SUV and stole two GPS, a laptop and a camera.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and sheriff's deputies responded to the call of a vehicle crash shortly after 6 a.m., near the 10500 block of Lyons Road in Boynton Beach. While at the scene of the crash, rescue crews noticed "numerous items in the van that did not look right" and alerted the deputies on scene, said Capt. Don DeLucia, spokesman for fire rescue.

Gosman, who was not injured during the crash, was immediately arrested, DeLucia said. Gosman told deputies at least twice that he found the property "on the side of the road."

Some of the property recovered included the items that were reported by Grossinger as stolen.

Furthermore, inside of the van were additional items that were reported stolen from vehicles at stations 46 and 48 at 4 a.m. today, DeLucia added. The affidavit does not mention these burglary incidents.

DeLucia said that a generator, a pressure washer and electronics were among the items stolen from those stations.
